Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from open sea by the Golfe de Fos. The beach stretches for about 7 km of sand east of the Grand Rhône river mouth. Exposed to the mistral from W and SW. Holding on sand is correct but anchor well clear of bathers in season.
Practical
No services at the anchorage. Nearest refuge is the Quai de halte at 2,9 NM NE, and the Port-Saint-Louis quay at 3 NM NE, both on the Grand Rhône. In strong SW or S winds, shift to the Rhône mouth or to Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône.
Ashore
The beach lies inside the Parc naturel régional de Camargue. Saltworks of Salin-de-Giraud, one of the largest in Europe, about 10 km north by road. Flamingo observation sites at the Étang du Fangassier and the Réserve naturelle nationale de Camargue northwest of the beach.
