Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west into the bay. Sand bottom, good holding. Open to the W swell funnelling into the bay. Shelter from N to NE. Village and small harbour of Galéria 0.9 NM SW, Port de Girolata 5 NM SW.

Practical

No services on the mooring. Galéria village at 0.9 NM SW has a grocery, bakery, a few restaurants and a small public pontoon. Nearest fuel and full services at Calvi, 15 NM N.

Ashore

Maison du Parc naturel régional de Corse in Galéria, information centre for the Scandola reserve and the Fango valley. Fango estuary nature reserve 1 km south of the village, part of the UNESCO Man and Biosphere programme since 1977.

History

The Fango valley above Galéria holds one of the largest holm oak forests in the Mediterranean and has been protected under the UNESCO biosphere label since 1977.
