Guide
Approach and anchoring
Protected by an inner and outer breakwater, which makes it one of the few all-weather refuges on this stretch of coast. Call the harbour master on VHF channel 16, working channel 74, or by phone on 650-726-4382 when approaching. Open berths are filled first come, first served, with no guest dock.
Practical
About 369 berths plus 115 mooring buoys, for boats from 20 to 65 feet. Fuel, water and shore power on the docks, a boat washdown area, fish cleaning station, haul-out and repair, laundry, showers and heads. San Mateo County Harbor District offices are alongside; Half Moon Bay Yacht Club is a short walk west.
Ashore
The harbour fronts a fishing community with seafood restaurants and a beach on Half Moon Bay. The trail to the Pillar Point bluff leads to the surf break known as Mavericks, which draws big-wave surfers in winter.
