Approach and anchoring
Enclosed lagoon reached from the sea via the canal of Sète or the Pisse-Saumes pass. Inside the lagoon, approach Mèze from the south keeping clear of the oyster tables marked by yellow buoys. Sound carefully, bottom is uneven with rocky patches around the sand and mud.
Practical
Port de Mèze at 0,2 NM north for water, fuel and supplies. Town centre of Mèze within walking distance of the harbour, full range of shops, market on Thursday and Sunday mornings on the quayside.
Ashore
Oyster and mussel tables of the étang de Thau are the main feature of the lagoon, tastings directly at producer cabanes along the quays of Mèze. Musée-parc des dinosaures et de la préhistoire at 1,2 km from the port. Port à sec de Sète is 2,7 NM east for dry storage and haul-out.
Story
The mooring is named after singer-songwriter Pierre Vassiliu, who lived in Mèze and is buried there.
