Approach and anchoring
Enter the étang de Thau via the Pisse-Saumes canal at Sète or the Onglous pass at Marseillan. Weed bottom inside the lagoon, holding variable, dig the hook in. Shelter from N, NW, W and SW. Exposed to the tramontane from the NW when it funnels across the lagoon, with short steep chop.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no services. Port de Mèze 0.9 NM north-east for water, fuel and provisioning. Port à sec de Sète 3.4 NM east.
Ashore
Mèze is the oldest village on the étang de Thau, with a Thursday and Sunday market on the quays. Shellfish farms of the Thau lagoon produce the Bouzigues oyster, with tasting shacks along the D51E1 road.
