Approach and anchoring

Reached from the Beaufort channel off Taylors Creek, a short run from the Beaufort Inlet sea buoy. The inlet itself is wide and well buoyed, but shoaling and inlet currents of 2.5 knots or more call for attention near Radio Island.

Practical

Berths run to 90 feet, some fitted with lifts rated to 40,000 pounds. Fuel berth with diesel and petrol, fresh water, ship store, showers and a pool. Berths are sold and let to transients.

Ashore

Beaufort historic waterfront on Front Street is about 1.5 miles by water, with the North Carolina Maritime Museum and Front Street shops and restaurants. Shackleford Banks and its wild horses lie across the channel.
