Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Intracoastal Waterway near mile marker 26. After passing under the bridge, turn south into the marked channel and stay within it until abreast of Moody Gardens, as the bayou shoals quickly into mud either side. Depths in the channel reach 30 feet, the deepest water in the area.
Practical
Anchoring on sand and mud, holding reported as good. Moody Gardens Marina lies 0.1 nm SE with year-round berths; Freedom Boat Club Galveston Island is 0.4 nm NW. Restaurants at Moody Gardens are reachable by tender.
Ashore
Moody Gardens, with its rainforest pyramid and aquarium, is alongside the anchorage. The resort runs a weekend fireworks display through the summer season.
