Approach and anchoring
Reached directly off the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway on the south shore of East Galveston Bay. The Gulf of Mexico lies roughly 2 miles seaward, and the Houston Ship Channel jetties about 7 miles by the waterway. The Bolivar ferry landing is some 6 miles to the west.
Practical
Berths, a fuel dock and a ship store with a bait and tackle counter. Fishing charters work out of the basin. Restaurants and shops at Port Bolivar a short drive away.
Ashore
Crystal Beach on the Gulf side of the peninsula is reachable by road for swimming. The free Bolivar ferry to Galveston Island runs from the landing 6 miles west, giving access to Galveston's historic Strand district and seafront.
