Approach and anchoring
Irondequoit Bay opens into Lake Ontario about 4 miles north of the club. The bay is 4 miles long and 400 to 800 metres wide, with steep wooded shores funnelling a steady thermal northerly through the afternoon.
Practical
Snipe, Lightning, Laser, Optimist and cruising fleets. Clubhouse in the former Birds and Worms Hotel building, occupied since 1943. Racing season Wednesday evenings and weekends.
History
Founded in 1936 as a membership corporation under New York State law to promote small-boat racing. Snipe fleet 103, the first class raced at the club. Lightning fleet added in 1946, Laser in 1976, Optimist in 1992.
