Guide
Approach and anchoring
A mud-bottomed reach of the ICW, sheltered from every quarter by the surrounding city and barrier island. The East Las Olas Boulevard bascule bridge crosses the sound with 24 feet of closed clearance and opens on request. Current runs through on the tide, so set the anchor with care among the moored boats.
Practical
The City of Fort Lauderdale mooring field lies just south, off the SW side of the Las Olas bridge, with around ten balls for vessels up to 50 feet at a nightly fee. Crews tie up and complete paperwork ashore at Las Olas Marina, which has a dinghy dock and facilities.
Ashore
Las Olas Boulevard runs west from the marina with shops, cafes and restaurants. The International Swimming Hall of Fame and its public pools are 0.4 nm south. Fort Lauderdale Beach is a short walk east across the barrier island.
