Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Atlantic through the Port Everglades inlet, then north on the ICW. Vessels berth along a 3,000 ft parallel dock and more than 5,000 ft of floating pontoons. Dockside check-in service, 24-hour security at the gate.
Practical
250 berths for vessels up to 300 ft, including 100 megayacht berths accommodating up to 250 ft. Shore power from 30 amp / 110 V to three-phase 480 V. Fuel berth with six pumps, diesel and petrol, over 100 gpm. In-slip pump-out, chandlery, dive shop, on-site maintenance, laundry and showers. DoubleTree by Hilton hotel on site with three restaurants.
Ashore
Fort Lauderdale Beach is directly across the boulevard. Las Olas Boulevard runs west into the city, lined with restaurants and shops. The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show takes over the marina and surrounding waterways for five days every late October or early November.
Story
Slip F-18 was designated a Literary Landmark in 1987 in honour of John D. MacDonald's fictional salvage consultant Travis McGee, whose houseboat Busted Flush was supposedly moored there through twenty-one novels starting with The Deep Blue Good-by in 1964.
