Approach and anchoring
The club lies within the West End harbour, entered from Lake Pontchartrain near the New Basin Canal light beacon. Berths are part of the wider Municipal Yacht Harbor, which holds several hundred slips.
Practical
Founded in 1949, the club runs a racing and seamanship programme rather than a public marina. It hosts more than 30 regattas a year, including Mardi Gras Race Week and the Bastille Day Regatta, and one of the largest Wednesday-night racing series in the country. There is an active junior sailing programme.
