Approach and anchoring
Reached from Narragansett Bay off Coddington Cove, on the north side of Newport. Access by sea and shore is limited to authorised Department of Defense patrons.
Practical
Berths plus a sailing and boating centre. Sailing, power boat and kayak rentals, with lessons and certification courses. Use is restricted to military personnel and other authorised DoD users.
History
Coasters Harbor Island has hosted the Naval War College since 1884. The wider Naval Station Newport area, including Coddington Cove, was a homeport for the US Atlantic Fleet's cruiser and destroyer force.
