Approach and anchoring
On the Newport waterfront, north of the main harbour and Goat Island. Access is restricted: berthing and the launch ramp are reserved for the military community holding valid ID and base access.
Practical
Run by Navy MWR. Berthing, a launch ramp and fishing access, open May to October. Sailing and powerboat instruction, plus rental of sailing boats, powerboats, kayaks and paddleboards.
History
Naval Station Newport, established in 1883, is home to the Naval War College and the Naval Justice School.
