Approach and anchoring

Drying estuary with strong tidal streams and shifting sandbanks. Enter on a rising tide with local knowledge, the bar and channel positions move after each gale. Algae bottom noted on the anchorage position, holding variable, check your set.

Practical

No services on the mooring. Nearest options are the public moorings "quais" 4.5 NM NW and Quai de la Barque 7.4 NM SE. Plan any stop around the tide, the bay dries over most of its area at low water.

Ashore

Baie d'Authie is part of the Natura 2000 coastal network with one of the largest harbour seal colonies on the French Channel coast. Sentier du littoral runs along both shores. Berck-sur-Mer and its sand beach lie north of the mouth.
