Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter Barcelona Harbor by the breakwater on the New York shore of Lake Erie. The Town of Westfield runs a buoy mooring field in the harbour next to the marina pontoons.
Practical
Transient and seasonal berths, boat parts and nautical goods on site. Picnic tables on the waterfront. No food and drink service at the marina.
Ashore
Barcelona Lighthouse stands on the bluff above the harbour and was the first natural gas lighthouse in the United States, lit in 1829. The Westfield wine trail and Concord grape country run inland from the harbour.
History
Barcelona Harbor was the first port of entry on the south shore of Lake Erie. The 1829 lighthouse used natural gas piped from a nearby seep, an experiment unique in American lighthouse history.
