Guide
Practical
Clubhouse at 1215 El Carmel Place, with dinghy yard, hoists and reciprocal berths for visiting club members. Mission Bay is sheltered from open Pacific swell, with a 5 knot speed limit. The Junior Sailing centre operates next door at the south end of the property.
History
The club was founded on 22 April 1927 by Austen T. Brown and Thomas O. Scripps with 53 charter members, after Brown and Scripps had bought a derelict 12-foot Flapper catboat for 50 dollars and run informal races on the undeveloped bay. The current clubhouse on El Carmel Point was dedicated on 20 June 1948 after the post-war dredging of Mission Bay.
