Man-made basin just off the Intracoastal Waterway inside the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps base in North Carolina, on a bottom of sand and mud.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
The basin lies on the ICW and holds around ten feet of water. Anchors set well in the thick mud. Boaters should call the base to check on live fire exercises, which can close stretches of the waterway. Swan Point Marina lies 1.8 miles to the west.
Practical
There are no facilities ashore and the surrounding land is military property where landing is not permitted. The basin commonly holds ten to twenty boats at a time, with room for more. Helicopter and training noise from the base is to be expected.
