Members' yacht club on the south side of Melbourne Harbor, at the mouth of Crane Creek where it meets the Indian River Lagoon, Florida.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Intracoastal Waterway by the marked Crane Creek channel off the Indian River Lagoon. Maximum draught around 1.8 metres, so deeper-keeled boats should sound their way in. The harbour is a brackish basin used locally as a storm refuge. VHF channel 88.
Practical
Berths and moorings for members and visiting reciprocal-club crews. Fuel and a chandlery are at Melbourne Harbor Marina, 0.1 nautical mile north-east. Downtown Melbourne shops and restaurants lie within walking distance of the basin.
History
The club was reformed in 1947 with 73 charter members and races on roughly 100 square miles of the Indian River Lagoon, one of the larger sheltered sailing grounds on the Florida east coast.
