Approach and anchoring
Approach up the Pasquotank River from Albemarle Sound through the marked channel, then steer for the MACU waterfront just south of the Elizabeth City Bridge. The wood fixed dock holds about a dozen boats and runs alongside the campus boardwalk. Pasquotank River Yacht Club lies 0.5 NM east as the nearest backup.
Practical
Free dockage for passing mariners, with free water on the dock and access to hot showers and toilets at the campus gym by arrangement with the dockmaster. No electricity and no pump-out on site. Downtown Mariners' Wharf and the supermarket are within a mile on foot.
Ashore
Downtown Elizabeth City sits a mile north on foot, with the Museum of the Albemarle on the waterfront and the Tuesday and Saturday farmers' market at the pavilion on Poindexter Street.
Story
The campus dock handles roughly 100 transient yachts a year, with regular calls from Canadian, British, French, German, Australian and New Zealand crews running the Great Loop or the ICW.
