Public marina inside Lake Erie Metropark at Brownstown, at the mouth of the Detroit River as it enters Lake Erie.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the lower Detroit River and western Lake Erie, off the end of Lee Road. Dockside depth is around 1.2 metres, so the marina suits shallow-draught boats; vessels up to about 11 metres are taken.
Practical
Around 100 berths, of which a handful are kept for transient boats. Shore power at 30 amp and fresh water are available. Two piers carry a bait shop and boat hire. Cash is accepted; the marina is run by Huron-Clinton Metroparks.
Ashore
The marina sits within a 1,607-acre park with marshes, ponds and hike and bike trails along three miles of Lake Erie shoreline. The Detroit River Hawk Watch operates near the boat launch each autumn, one of the best raptor migration sites in North America.
