Working boatyard and dock facility on the south side of Point Richmond in San Francisco Bay, on Brickyard Cove, opposite Angel Island.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from central San Francisco Bay through the Richmond inner harbour channel, leaving Brooks Island to the south. The KKMI docks are off Cutting Boulevard with deep water along the face. Strong ebb tides through the Golden Gate make morning departures easier on a slack.
Practical
Dock space for vessels up to 200 feet. Large-capacity travel lift, full-service yard with painting, engine work and rigging. Well-stocked chandlery on the premises, WiFi, showers and a Boat House for crews on the hard. Yard hours Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4 pm, office until 5 pm.
Ashore
Point Richmond historic village with cafes and restaurants is half a mile north on Washington Avenue. Miller Knox Regional Shoreline runs along Brickyard Cove with walking trails and the small Keller Beach. The SS Red Oak Victory museum ship is berthed 2 miles east in the Kaiser Shipyard 3 historic site.
History
KKMI was founded in Point Richmond in 1996 by Ken Keefe and Paul Kaplan. The yard has been named Boat Yard of the Year by the American Boatbuilders and Repairer's Association, the only Northern California yard to receive that recognition.
