Sheltered anchorage on Georgetown Island near the mouth of the Sheepscot River, in mid-coast Maine, on a mud bottom.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
The harbour lies tucked behind land on most sides and is open mainly to the south-east. Approach from the Sheepscot River and feel your way in, keeping clear of the narrow channels between the islands. Holding is good in mud.
Practical
This is a quiet, facility-free anchorage. Southport Yacht Club lies 1.7 miles east and Hodgdon Yacht Services 2.1 miles north-east at Ebenecook Harbour, where moorings, fuel and repairs can be found.
Ashore
Georgetown Island offers back-road walking and the village of Five Islands to the south, a working lobster harbour with a seasonal seafood shack on the wharf.
