Approach and anchoring
Access by the canal only, no tidal constraint. Maximum draught 1.5 metres. Moor alongside the wooden quay. The nearest locks are écluse de Belleville to the north and écluse de Ménétréol to the south, both VNF operated to standard hours.
Practical
Five berths with water, no shore power, no fuel. A small grocery and bakery in Bannay 1.2 km by road. Full services at Saint-Thibault 7 km south and at Léré 5 km north.
Ashore
Vineyards of Sancerre AOC begin on the right bank, the hilltop village of Sancerre 8 km by road or cycle route Loire à Vélo. Loire observation site at Bannay on the opposite bank, a Natura 2000 zone for terns and sand martins nesting on the river islands.
