Approach and anchoring
On the Rhone downstream of the Pierre-Benite lock and upstream of the Vaugris lock. Strong current when the river is in spate. Maximum draught 1.8 m at the pontoon. Commercial river traffic has priority on the main channel.
Practical
About 10 berths on a floating pontoon. Water and electricity at the berth. Bakery, supermarket and SNCF station in Givors town centre at 600 m.
Ashore
Maisons des Etoiles by architect Jean Renaudie, 1970s social housing listed as a twentieth century heritage site, at 1 km. Fluvial cycle route ViaRhona passes the pontoon, part of the 815 km route from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean.
