Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Gulf of Fos through the Saint-Louis lock and the canal running west. No tide. Max draught 1.5 m. Low speed required on the canal. Shelter against mistral from the surrounding banks, but the channel funnels gusts.
Practical
Basic pontoon berthing on the canal bank. No fuel pump on site. Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône town centre lies about 6 nm east by water, with fuel, chandlers and shops.
Ashore
Camargue Regional Nature Park starts on the north bank. Tour du Valat biological station and flamingo lagoons lie within a 10 km drive. Beach of Napoleon at the Rhône mouth is about 7 km by road.
