Approach and anchoring
From the Atlantic, follow Hawk Channel to the red marker number 32, then make for the sunken barge and follow the channel to green marker 19 before turning into Garden Cove Canal. The approach channel carries about 1.2 m, so check the tidal range of about 0.6 m.
Practical
Full-service marina with a fuel berth and a boat ramp. Buzzard's Roost waterfront restaurant and tiki bar sit on site and will cook a guest's fresh catch.
Ashore
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park lies just north of Key Largo, covering about 70 square nautical miles of reef and a popular base for diving and snorkelling on the offshore coral.
