Approach and anchoring

On the canalised Moselle between the Thionville and Koenigsmacker locks, right bank near the town centre. Maximum draught 1.8 m. VHF 19 for lock traffic. Nautic'Ham marina is the nearest wet-berth refuge 2.6 NM north-east, Talange 7.6 NM south.

Practical

Around 10 free short-stay places, water and shore power posts managed by the commune. Supermarket, bakeries and restaurants within 400 m in the town centre.

Tour aux Puces, Romanesque keep of the 11th century that houses the Thionville museum, 500 m from the pontoon. Beffroi of Thionville 1392. Chateau de La Grange at Manom, 18th century listed residence, 3 km north.

History

Thionville was a fortified town on the Moselle from the Middle Ages, reinforced by Vauban after its reunion to France in 1659 and again under the German Empire between 1871 and 1918.
