Approach and anchoring
On the canalised Moselle between locks Apach and Koenigsmacker. Pontoon on the left bank downstream of the road bridge. Commercial traffic has priority on the Moselle CEMT Class Vb waterway.
Practical
Free short-stay pontoon with water and shore power posts managed by the commune. A few restaurants, a bakery and a small supermarket within 300 m in the old town.
Ashore
Chateau des Ducs de Lorraine above the town, 11th to 15th century fortress open to visitors, 500 m from the pontoon on foot. Chapelle de Marienfloss at Sierck, a former 14th century priory. Schengen and the tripoint France-Germany-Luxembourg are 4 km downstream.
History
Sierck was a fortified residence of the Dukes of Lorraine from the 11th century. The town held a strategic position on the Moselle crossing between Lorraine, the Holy Roman Empire and the County of Luxembourg.
