Coastal lagoon north of Perpignan, shared between Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales, linked to the sea by the grau de Leucate.

Approach and anchoring
Entry via the grau de Leucate, controlled channel dredged to around 2 m, narrow and subject to tramontane wind squalls from the NW. Keep between the lateral marks and watch for fishing nets. Once inside, depths in the lagoon run 1 to 2 m on sand and mud.
Practical
Forain anchorage on sand and mud, holding rated good. Shelter from the NE, E and SE, fully exposed to the tramontane from NW. Port de Coudalère 1.2 NM S and Port Nautica 1.4 NM S serve as the nearest refuges and offer full services.
Ashore
Leucate windsurfing and kitesurfing spot on the seaward side of the lagoon, used for a stage of the Mondial du Vent each April. Cape of Leucate cliff and lighthouse 3 km NE of the grau, the only coastal cliff between the Rhône and the Spanish border.
