Approach and anchoring
Enter Gloucester Harbour past Eastern Point Light and the granite Dog Bar breakwater, which runs about 685 metres from the point. The club lies on the eastern shore of the outer harbour. Working VHF channel 71.
Practical
Around 50 moorings for visiting yachts up to 18 metres, taken first come first served. The fee includes a launch service to the clubhouse. Fuel and pump-out at the club dock. The clubhouse has showers, a pool and dining. Mooring field open from early May to mid October.
Ashore
Eastern Point Light, in service since 1832, sits at the end of the point a short walk from the club. The Dog Bar breakwater carries a footpath out to the breakwater light. Beauport, the Sleeper-McCann House museum, is about 1 km along Eastern Point Boulevard.
History
Eastern Point Yacht Club was founded in 1923. The Dog Bar breakwater that shelters the outer harbour was built by the Army Corps of Engineers between 1894 and 1905 to close off the Dog Bar reef.
