Free 100 ft dock on the Dismal Swamp Canal route of the ICW, on the Chesapeake side of the Virginia-North Carolina line.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Deep Creek Lock to the north or from the South Mills Lock to the south. The Dismal Swamp Canal is a narrow, tree-lined cut with controlling depth around 6 ft, watch for submerged logs and floating debris after rain. The dock is at position 36 38.251 N, 076 22.384 W.

Practical

Around 100 ft of bulkhead, no power, no water, no fee. Watch the large bolts protruding from the pilings when setting fenders. Restroom on site has been reported closed for lack of running water, do not rely on it. Closed road alongside is open to walkers and cyclists for several miles.
