Free 150 ft face dock at Milepost 28 of the Dismal Swamp Canal, on the east bank opposite the Dismal Swamp State Park, South Mills, North Carolina.

Approach and anchoring
On the Dismal Swamp Canal route of the ICW, between the Deep Creek Lock to the north and the South Mills Lock to the south. Canal width tight, controlling depth around 6 ft, deadheads and floating logs after heavy rain. The dock is 200 yards north of the floating bridge that crosses the canal.
Practical
Around 150 ft of face dock, space for 3 to 4 boats with rafting accepted in season. No power, no fee. A hose bib for fresh water sits below the deck at the north end. Restrooms open 24 hours, vending machines, covered picnic tables, dog park and wi-fi at the welcome centre.
Ashore
The floating bridge gives walking access to the Dismal Swamp State Park visitor centre on the west bank, with several miles of trails through bald-cypress and tupelo wetland. Black bear and barred owl are regularly reported. Highway US-17 runs alongside the dock, the welcome centre is open 09:00 to 17:00.
