Sand bottom. Sheltered from NE through SE, exposed to the prevailing W and NW Atlantic swell. Day anchorage only in calm weather. Port des Pêcheurs de Biarritz 0.4 NM N, Anglet Montbrun 3.7 NM NE.
Practical
No services at anchor. Tender landing difficult with any swell. Full facilities at Port des Pêcheurs or Anglet.
Ashore
Côte des Basques beach is the birthplace of European surfing, where Californian Peter Viertel first surfed in 1956. Coastal path to the Rocher de la Vierge 1 km N. Biarritz town centre and Les Halles covered market 800 m from the beach.
