Approach and anchoring
The Adour bar is exposed to Atlantic swell and crossed by strong tidal currents. The entrance is controlled by VTS Bayonne on VHF 12. Commercial ships, trawlers and tugs have right of way in the channel. Mud bottom. No dedicated anchorage: pleasure craft head to Port Adhoc Bayonne-Anglet 0.3 NM NW or the Brise-Lames basin 0.8 NM NW.
Practical
No facilities on the prohibited zone itself. Port Adhoc Bayonne-Anglet on the right bank offers pontoons, water, electricity and fuel nearby. Bus links to Bayonne town centre and Biarritz.
