Approach and anchoring
Sheltered from N, NE, E, S and SE. Exposed to westerlies and to the libeccio. Approach between granite reefs, keeping a close watch on the SHOM chart, the Bouches de Bonifacio are strewn with drying rocks and require visual pilotage in good light.
Practical
Mouillage forain only, no services on the island. Sant'Amanza 3 NM NW and Bonifacio 4.6 NM W for provisions, water and diesel.
Ashore
Île Cavallo sits inside the Parc marin international des Bouches de Bonifacio, created in 1999 jointly with the Parco di La Maddalena on the Sardinian side. Anchoring on posidonia is prohibited by prefectoral order, sand patches are marked on the chart. Roman granite quarries remain visible on the north coast of the island.
