Approach and anchoring
Lies open to the southerly sector, so it suits settled weather only. St Ignace marina is about 3 miles to the south and Mackinac Island State Harbor about 6 miles to the south-east for shelter and supplies.
Ashore
Castle Rock is a limestone sea stack rising 195 feet above the shore, left standing when post-glacial Lake Algonquin receded. It opened to visitors in 1929, and a stairway climbs to a viewpoint over the straits and Mackinac Island.
