Approach and anchoring
Reached along the Canal latéral à la Garonne between Toulouse and the confluence with the Canal de Garonne at Castets-en-Dorthe. Several manually or automatically operated locks either side. Air draught limited by the canal bridges to about 3.5 m.
Practical
40 pontoon berths, water and electricity on the quay. Hire-boat bases on the canal. Supermarket, bakery and restaurants in Castelsarrasin town centre, within 500 m of the basin.
Ashore
Castelsarrasin holds the Saint-Sauveur church, a brick-built edifice dating from the 13th century. The Canal des Deux Mers cycle route runs along the towpath, linking Bordeaux to Sète. Moissac and its abbey church of Saint-Pierre, a UNESCO site on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, lie about 12 km downstream.
