Guide
Approach and anchoring
Cape May Inlet is an all-weather entrance from the Atlantic. Anchorage room lies along the south side of the harbour east of the Coast Guard station, in 2 to 6 metres at low water with good holding in thick mud. Keep at least 100 yards off the Coast Guard pier. Bree-Zee-Lee Yacht Basin is 0.3 miles north and R J Marine Services 0.3 miles north-west.
Practical
Fresh water can be taken nearby. The harbour is a common layover for crews waiting on weather before the New Jersey coast, Delaware Bay or the C and D Canal.
Ashore
The Coast Guard Training Center occupies the harbour front and is the only Coast Guard recruit training base in the country. Cape May town, with its Victorian streets, beaches and shops, lies a short way west.
