Guide
Approach and anchoring
The Waccamaw River runs deep close to its wooded banks. The bottom is sand and the spot is sheltered from north through east and from the south, with the south-west open.
Practical
Heritage Plantation Marina lies 2.1 miles to the north-east and Georgetown Landing Marina 4.6 miles to the south-west, both giving access to provisions and fuel.
Ashore
The river threads through the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge, a corridor of bald cypress forest where black bears and bald eagles are recorded. Georgetown itself, 4.6 miles to the south-west, has a working waterfront and a historic centre.
