Marsh anchorage off the Intracoastal Waterway in Cumberland Sound, on Georgia's southernmost stretch of coast near St Marys.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the ICW between St Andrew Sound and the St Marys entrance. Mud bottom with good holding. The site lies among open salt marsh, so it shelters from east through south-east but stays exposed to the north and west.
Practical
No facilities on site. Jekyll Harbor Marina lies 6.7 miles north for fuel and berths, and boatyard services are at St Marys 12.4 miles south.
Ashore
Cumberland Island National Seashore is close by, the largest barrier island in Georgia, with undeveloped beaches and the Carnegie-era Dungeness ruins reached by foot from the National Park Service landing.
