Approach and anchoring
In the inner harbour at the foot of Bowen's Wharf. Deep-water berths along tie-along floating docks, with up to 20 feet of depth, taking yachts to about 34 metres LOA. Reservations recommended through Dockwa.
Practical
Up to 75 metres of transient floating dock. Single and three-phase 10, 30, 50 and 100 amp power, fresh water, pump-out, WiFi and cable TV, heads, showers and laundry. Overnight security.
Ashore
The wharf itself has shops, galleries and restaurants on brick walks and granite quays. Downtown Newport, the Museum of Newport History and Thames Street are at the wharf head.
History
Bowen's Wharf was built around 1760 by Newport merchant captains and was a centre of the colonial sea trade. During the Revolutionary War it served as a base for privateers raiding British shipping.
