Member-owned sailing club with a small harbour at Bayfield, on the Lake Superior shore of northern Wisconsin and the gateway to the Apostle Islands.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

Reached from the open water of Lake Superior off Bayfield. Maximum draught at the berths is around 3 metres. VHF channel 16. The season runs from early May to mid-October.

Practical

Around 30 sheltered berths with 30 amp shore power, water and internet. There is a bathhouse with private showers, a clubhouse with two kitchens, and a workbench shed for sail and gear repairs. The club was founded in 1955 to promote sailing and racing on Lake Superior.

Ashore

The club sits next to the Brownstone Trail for walking and cycling. Bayfield is the main jumping-off point for the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, a group of 21 protected islands known for sea caves, sandstone cliffs and the largest collection of historic lighthouses in the United States.
