Approach and anchoring
Approach from the gulf, 4.4 nm south of Port Tino Rossi in Ajaccio city. Sand and algae bottom, prefer the sandy patches for holding since posidonia anchoring is restricted in the gulf. Shelter from south-west through south to south-east, exposed to west and libeccio. VHF channel 9.
Practical
Ten buoys managed in season. No services on site. Port Tino Rossi in Ajaccio is 4.4 nm north for fuel, water, berths and all shops. Dinghy dock further 0.5 nm beyond.
Ashore
The headland takes its name from the Sainte-Barbe chapel above the cove. The coastal road D 111 runs behind the bay towards Ajaccio, with beaches of Trottel and Scudo within walking distance.
History
The Gulf of Ajaccio was the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1769. Ajaccio's old town, 4 nm to the north, keeps his birth house, now the Musée national de la Maison Bonaparte.
