Approach and anchoring
Enter Alamitos Bay between two stone jetties bearing NNE, about 1.15 miles at 030 magnetic from the east end of the Long Beach Breakwater. The west jetty carries a 25 ft green flashing light. Keep clear of the San Gabriel River shoals east of the eastern jetty. 5 mph limit enforced inside the bay.
Practical
Members club with a clubhouse, dinghy dock and racing fleet. Visiting yachts only by reciprocal arrangement. Alamitos Bay Marina with full visitor berths sits 0.2 nm to the NE for non-members.
History
Founded on 14 August 1924 by twelve local sailors and boat builders, formally organised in 1926 and incorporated in California in 1928. Long associated with Olympic-class dinghy racing on the bay.
