Approach and anchoring

Approach along the canal, Freycinet gauge. Maximum draught 1.80 m, standard air draught 3.50 m. No lock in the immediate vicinity. Canal traffic follows VNF rules, no VHF. Despite the gauge, water alongside the jetty is thin and rocky in places; a boat drawing 1.35 m touched bottom at several points, so sound in and lie off the shallowest sections.

Practical

Three rings on a wooden jetty that needs some upkeep. A water point runs at the quay, but there is no electricity and no fuel. A hotel barge calls here regularly, so the rings can be taken. Small village with no shop, nearest bread and groceries at Hesse 2 nm east.

Ashore

The towpath is open to cyclists and walkers and links to the EuroVelo 5 Via Romea Francigena via Sarrebourg. The Saint-Louis-Arzviller inclined plane is 8 km east along the canal. Quiet agricultural setting, forest edge within 500 m.
