Approach and anchoring
Accessed only by the Canal des Houilleres de la Sarre, between Gondrexange and Mittersheim. Maximum air draught and beam follow Freycinet canal standards. Locks operated by VNF on published summer hours. No tidal constraints.

Basic halt for canal boats. Mooring along the bank, limited services. Contact the halt by email at portduhouillion@gmail.com. Shops and bakery in the village of Mittersheim 3 km north. Nearest fuel in Sarrebourg 15 km.
Ashore
Walk along the canal towpath, part of the EuroVelo 5 itinerary. The Saint-Louis-Arzviller inclined plane boat lift stands nearby on the Canal de la Marne au Rhin. Etang de Gondrexange 4 km south, a 700 hectare fishing and sailing lake. Village church of Ley dating from the 19th century 500 metres from the bank.
