Anchorage off Plage de Vignola on the west coast of Balagne, Haute-Corse, 2.1 NM W of Ile-Rousse.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the north along the rocky coast west of Ile-Rousse, keeping to seaward of the charted shoals. This is a small cove with room for only about four or five boats, so arrive early. Anchor on sand in 4 to 7 metres near the swimming buoys, diving the anchor to confirm the set, and keep clear of the rocks inside the bay. Shelter from W and E, partial from SW, S and SE; fully exposed to N and NE winds, including the tramontane and mistral which funnel along this coast, with some roll in a NW wind.
Practical
No services at the anchorage. Water, fuel, berths and provisioning 2.1 NM E at Ile-Rousse, and 3.2 NM SW at Port Eugene Ceccaldi in Algajola.
Ashore
A small beach snack bar sits on the neighbouring beach, but there is nothing else on site, not even a bin. The Sentier du littoral of the Agriates coast starts 2 km west of the anchorage and runs to the beaches of Ostriconi and Saleccia. Ile-Rousse old town and covered market at 2.1 NM E. Balagne wine route passes through Calvi, Lumio and Algajola villages with AOP Vin de Corse Calvi cellars open to visitors.
