Approach and anchoring

Access from the lake, no tidal constraint. Very shallow, maximum draught around 0.6 m. VHF channel 1 for the lake navigation service. Watch for swimmers and paddle boards in summer within the 300 m coastal zone where speed is limited to 5 knots.

Practical

One dedicated berth, essentially a short stop for small craft. No fuel, no full marina services on site. Nearest facilities at Duingt 0.8 NM south-west or Saint-Jorioz 1.4 NM west.

Ashore

Baie de Talloires with the former Benedictine abbey, now a hotel, on the lakeside. Réserve naturelle du Roc de Chère just south of the village, signposted trail from the shore. Col de la Forclaz above Montmin at 1 157 m, take-off site for paragliders.

History

The Benedictine priory of Talloires was founded in the 11th century. The chemist Marcellin Berthelot stayed there in the 19th century, and the site later hosted the Abbaye hotel frequented by Paul Cézanne and Winston Churchill.
