Guide
Approach and anchoring
Anchoring is prohibited in the marine protected area, and boats lie on the buoys. Ferries and tour boats come and go from about 09.00 to 19.00, and their wash keeps the buoys rolling. The bay is exposed to swell from SE to SW. SW swell from gales over Provence can enter. Most buoys were free after 18.30 in August 2023.
Practical
In 2024 buoys could be booked in advance with the Portofino marine protected area. A buoy cost 50 euros in August 2022. An 11.6 m yacht paid 100 euros for an afternoon and night in July 2022. The beach is too small to leave a tender. A launch runs to shore, at 10 euros a person return in 2023.
Ashore
Ashore stand the Benedictine abbey, bars and restaurants. Footpaths climb into the hills above the cove. A restaurant launch can collect diners from the buoys. The Christ of the Abyss statue lies at 10 to 15 m and is visible when snorkelling.
